Update

After a long wait and much research I updated to Mavericks yesterday. Essentially all went well. All my essential apps run well. Printer and scanner work. In the next days I have to get my big HP network printer going. Ideally Mavericks should play nice with a HP JetDirect box.
Working on a big 27 inch Mac is great nice when working on big posters.
